Invitations and more...

My mom and I went to Jaffa printing to see what Linda Jaffa could do for us. The Jaffa's are in our ward and they have done just about everyone I know invitations. So we went to check it out. Linda helped us with the whole thing and they are going to be very cute. Our only delema is waiting for the presidency to aprove the temple. Pray for us.

If you don't know the story already Clayton has been married in the temple once before and because of this we (Clayton) has had to go through a whole series of letters. He had to write one his ex had to write one, Our bishop after reading their letters and talking to their old bishop (when they were still married) had to write one. Then to the stake president they went then he had to write one.
Let me tell you each one of these steps were delied a few weeks. How do youfind your old not practicing bishop from when you were married and hardley active, welll that is where the lord put the right people in the right place. It just so happened that the sorority that I was president of had two young members who became my officer, that had been in Clayton's ward when he was married and they still had the old bishops number. If that isn't planned by a higher power I have no idea what is...
That delied the bishops letter a few weeks. Then when it got to the stake president we thought it had been sent on to the first presidency only to find out 2 weeks later the stake president needed to meet with Clayton before he sent his letter on. It took two weeks because he was out of town. Finally about three weeks ago they got sent, but we can't print the invites until we are sure we can be sealed in the temple. That is why I need your prayers.
Trust me we started this whole process with at least 4 months and now we are down to only 6 weeks and only 2 until the invites should be sent.

Cakes and things

okay so things are going pretty well. Wendy got a dress the other day and it is beautiful. I am very excited for how things are going. All I have left to plan now is the cake, food, and to help Clayton's Dad with the dinner.
I have found a really great cake lady who is very inexpensive so I am pretty excited about that I just hope she can stand me because I am being kind of picky about the flavors. I don't just want chocolate and white cake with raspberry filling I want fun flavor that you normally don't get. She has some fun ones that caught my attention so I guess we will see.

the easy part

In the begining everything went fairly smooth. My Mom and I went shopping to look for bridesmaid dresses and flower girl dresses. We had only gone one other time and we were not very serious about it. Well we walked right in and found the perfect dress for the little ones. Then as we wondered through the mall there they were, the perfect bridesmaid dresses and at a great price. So I called everyone and the next day we had purchased them all.
Andi, my sister-in-law has really helped with ideas and hook ups. She introduced me to a friend of her mothers that do these amazing rod iron work type things and they rent them for a great price. So I can't wait until you all get to see those decorations at the reception.
I also have a great DJ in my ward so that covers that.
The reception site is at my aunt's and uncle's beautiful house in their back yard, so that was nice and easy. We also got a great deal...
Things are great and going as well as can be expected.
I am having a great time. I am really excited.

mothers dresses

Yesterday my mother and I went dress shopping. She finally found a dress that we thought would be good. We bought it at David's Bridal and they don't let you return them, so that was a hard decision. Just so you know one of the most stressful things about this wedding has been finding the mothers dresses. Hopefully as soon as my future mother-in-law gets her dress, I will feel a huge relief but as we all know - as weddings go - probably not.

The Date

Oh everyone who doesn't know the wedding date is October 8th. You'll all get invites.

The Proposal

Lake Powell July 20th-26th.

Clayton and I went to Lake Powell with my Mom's family. It was a good turn out pretty much everyone from my family. There was about 30 people the whole time. Kind of a crowded right?

On our house boat we had a fun little paddle boat, Clayton and I decided to take this out the first night and chat and be alone. It was sunset and it was beautiful, so amazing. We made this a nightly tradition. On the 24th of July a (Friday night) we took the paddle boat a different way and we found a pretty little sandy beach. We parked the boat and got out. I was hunting for sea shells when he stopped and hugged me then all of a sudden he was down on his knees asking me to marry him. With the sun setting in the background how could you refuse. It was wonderful. I am so happy.

To support the story before we took the boat Clayton tried to ask my Dad's permission alone and just as he started J showed up then Bry showed up and Jason (Aubrey's Fiance). They got to interrogate the poor boy before my Dad said it was okay. Poor Clayton...

The begining.

Okay so as you all probably know...

Clayton and I went to high school together. We had all the same friends hung out at all the same places and yet somehow we never met. Until November of this last year.

You have to understand when I met Clayton, he had a giant beard. I couldn't see any of skin except his beautiful blue eyes. I wondered at that moment what does he looked like under all that hair. He has such pretty eyes.
A few months later due to a tragic job loss, I got to find out, he had shaved, I did not even know it was the same person. I asked Julia who is that new guy with Chris? Well it was Clayton and he was cute. Julia and I had a few words about how different he looked and that was pretty much it.
A few weeks later, January 18th, I was in charge of a mingle at the ward and just before cleaning up, Clayton sat with me and we started talking about random stuff. He thought I had a crush on Chris so he was trying to get me to say I did but that wasn't the case.

Clayton asked "So do you like any of the guys in this ward?"

And I did, So I said "I like a few guys in this ward. Some are in this room." At this time I had no idea he thought I liked Chris and when he asked if I liked anyone I thought he was refering to himself, and that started it. That got me thinking, wow you are kind of cute, that was the begining.
After we talked a few minutes longer, it was cleanup time. Clayton and Chris stuck around to help, We continued chatting. On our way out we stood in the hall and talked about another 20 min. before I had to offer my number to Clayton since he was to oblivious to ask. Then we parted our seperate ways.

Within a couple of hours he called me to ask if I'd go to ward prayer, with him and Chris. Even though I had other plans I was intrerested with this new possibility. I met them over at Chris's and we all rode together.

At ward prayer, which just happened to be at Julia's new home, Clayton and I found ourselves a cozy spot on the coach and didn't move the entire night. I was trying to break the ice so I asked if they wanted to come watch a movie at my house. Well, Clayton at that point realized it was not Chris I was interested and he said sure. Then he immediatly assumed that I only invited him over not them.
The rest is history, we have been together almost every day since only missing a few because of vacations, and other few events, before we were serious. Our first date was the next day at the Cheesecake Factory and things have gone great and fast ever since.

The reason

Okay so we are getting married...
I am very excited that I have finally found someone I can share the rest of my life with. I hope all of you can share it with us.
This blog for now was created to update everyone (all of you) on how the wedding plans are going, and just in case of bad weather or other complications, you will know about changes of the venue.
I am very excited to keep this updated with all our fun stuff. We'll see if I actually do it.
